Welcome!
I’m so happy you’re here! Plants and Pondering is a lifestyle and houseplant blog designed to help you take better care of your plants and yourself.
Lifestyle topics include goal setting, productivity, practicing self-care, and all kinds of different ways to grow into a better person. I also write plant care guides, share stories about my plants, and show how plants can add a little (or a lot) of joy to anyone’s life.
Sometimes things don’t all fit into neat boxes. Besides lifestyle and plant topics, I enjoy sharing what I’m reading, some personal thoughts, and the knowledge that I’ve picked up about running a blog.
A little bit about me
My name is Kaitie. I’m a recent college graduate, in that phase where you kind of know what you’re doing, but you also kind of don’t. I’m an introvert to the extreme, a highly sensitive person, and an INTP/J. I spend my time caring for my plants (obviously), reading, yoga, self-care, watching youtube videos, hanging with my boyfriend, and now blogging! You can expect my content to involve at least one of those things.
I’ve had houseplants for many years, but in the past year or so I stepped it up and became a ‘plant person’. I want to help people take better care of their plants, and just enjoy them more in general. Plants are things that really make me so happy. From bamboo and a little snake plant in my dorm room to an apartment full of more than twenty plants, my plant obsession has grown with me.
I have (or will have) care guide and all kinds of plant-related content. I only talk specifically about plants that I own, but I’m happy to offer suggestions for other kinds. I’m not an expert by any means, but I know what works for me!
In terms of lifestyle, I lean more towards productivity and mindfulness. Routines are so calming to me and I love a good self-care night. I was a big reader as a child, and I’m just starting to bring my love of books back now that I’m an adult.
I live in a cozy apartment with my amazing boyfriend, my jungle of plants, and my guinea pigs, Timmy and Tommy.
Why am I here?
My day job is great, but it lacks the creative outlet that I found myself craving. I’ve always loved writing. It’s the easiest way to express myself and share my thoughts. The possibility of a second stream of income and the ability to support myself in a way that’s independent of my job is also very appealing.
As someone with anxiety, I’ve spent a lot of time learning, trying things, and generally being a student of caring for myself. It really scares me to put myself out there, but I think that’s the next step of the challenge! I can be perfectly content just keeping to myself, but there’s a whole big world out there. I want to share more, and I think blogging is the way I can do it.
My whole life, I’ve had a hard time connecting with the people around me. A lot of the time, they just seem so different, Which is fine, but it’s felt like people don’t truly understand me. I know there are people like me out there, and I’m hoping more than anything that this blog will help me find them. Find people like you!
Besides just connecting with people, I want to help. The things that I’ve learned about plants, self-care, managing anxiety, living an intentional life, and so much more have been life-changing for me; but I don’t want it to stop there. Sometimes just knowing that someone out there feels the same way that you do can make a difference. The world can be a lonely place, especially when you don’t quite fit in.
If you leave with one thing, know that you matter. You are worthy of love, care, and taking time to do the things that matter to you. The things that make you really excited. That’s what this blog has become for me, and I hope that everyone can find their thing.
Thank you so much for being here. I appreciate it more than you know. If you’d like to learn more about me, you can check out some of my personal posts.
